The students selected by the Beija-flor Program visited Campus for the first time and had the opportunity to know the school. In the afternoon, they learned more about Beacon and what the initiative proposes in terms of curriculum. In addition to everyday matters, they met the team leaders with whom they will have constant contact and heard the experiences of two 9th-grade (Y9) students who joined the school through Beija-flor.
Jatobá Program aims to find talented young people in public schools and provide them with the opportunity to improve their English skills and study at Beacon. Beija-flor and Jatobá Scholarship are the two program options offered to students.
Beija-flor Program offers an exclusive English course, with daily classes from Monday to Friday, for 3 hours. Transportation is provided from schools to the Campus unit, where students are offered lunch and afternoon snacks at no cost. To complement their education, there are weekly reinforcement classes in Mathematics, Portuguese, and Current Affairs, as well as English-language Theater and Physical Education classes. During the course, students have the opportunity to experience the Beacon school environment from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and at the end, they receive certificates of English fluency.
The full scholarship program, named Jatobá Project, provides comprehensive education, including not only education but also meals, uniforms, school supplies, and Field Trips. In addition, students are welcomed into the Beacon community, consisting of students, educators, and families, creating a network of support and mutual collaboration.
Admission to the program is possible in the 6th grade (Y6) of Elementary School or the 1st year of High School (Y10). It is a unique opportunity not only for the students but also for the Beacon Institute, who contributes to the education of these young people and the construction of a more diverse education.”
