Our students are growing and Beacon is preparing to launch its High School in 2021. One of Beacon’s four pillars is to offer a high-quality educational program, and for that, we believe that it is fundamental to have an exchange of experiences with pedagogical directors and advisors from other institutions.
At the High School Forum, subjects were discussed regarding the perception of education worldwide today, future projections and, above all, the possible connections between the BNCC (“Base Nacional Comum Curricular”) and the IB Diploma Program, the pedagogical curriculum which Beacon will adopt.
Topics such as lifelong learning, socioemotional competences and values, academic pathways, the benefits of optional classes, the main role of the student, and learning with passion and purpose were addressed in the debate. New beginnings trigger sensations, worries, uncertainty and perspectives, and just like everything related to education, learning is ongoing.
The forum came to a close with the certainty that the role of the school is to educate citizens for the world, and that ethics is even more present and should be encouraged. The same applies to emotional abilities, which are extremely necessary in a digital age.
