The Campus, Padre Pereira (717) and Berlioz hosted an exhibition of students enrolled in the Optional Activities. From June 13th to 19th, parents were able to appreciate the production.
The students were excited with the new site, the Campus, and they came up with a suggestion: to bring more color and identity to this new space. This is how the “Urban Interventions” came to life.
Students of different ages researched possibilities of interventions in the school’s structure. They made close contact with pieces of art, artists and their philosophies. As a result, children were able to enhance their creativity and develop their critical eye to the space.
The artist Alexander Calder and his mobiles inserted in urban contexts drew the students’ attention in a special way. Inspired by Calder’s productions, children made sketches and three-dimensional drawings, culminating with a great variety of interventions throughout the Campus.
G5 and G6 students (5 and 6 years old) worked on the “Mondrian” project, which was developed through research, investigation, formulation of hypothesis and interaction with the school routine. In the Art class, the repertoire of images was increased through the appreciation of works. The children were invited to use creativity in their paintings and productions in modeling and collage. In math, they learned about shapes, numbers and counting.
For G2 to G4 children (2 to 4 years old), the project “Children & Nature” recognized the importance of contact with nature for humans’ health development.
Interacting with nature allows children to learn through exploration and creativity, leading them to think, to question and to develop an investigative skill. Being in outdoors stimulates our little ones to express themselves naturally, besides challenging their own bodies to run, jump, climb and create their own games.
Children exposed to the environment build a positive relationship with the space and develop a sense of caring. During this semester, G2 to G4 explored the nature through games, by observing worms digging into the ground, listening to birds singing, smelling aromatic herbs, collecting seeds and creating artistic projects with various natural elements.
