Circus students present to parents

The students enrolled in the Circus Optional Activity performed an end of year presentation to put into practice the skills developed throughout the program and invited their family members to honor them.

The Circus at Beacon expands possibilities for expressive language development, promoting the integration  of body, intellectual, socioemotional and cultural dimensions. The workshop resulted in an acrobatic exhibit elaborated collectively with the students.

Through the learning and development of basis circus techniques, such as aerial, juggling, and acrobatics, the course is focused on the artistic and educational activities that value the collective processes of construction, exploration, and creation from the students’ perspective. It also aims to develop motor skills, body and spatial awareness, self-confidence, self-esteem, cooperation and socialization.

The evolution of the proposals occurred gradually, respecting the characteristics of each age group. The aerial is based on the aerial acrobatics while hanging from a suspended fabric or fixed trapeze. The juggling, however, exercises the progressive manipulation with balls, diabolo, clubs, spinning plates, and rings, double team games and in circle focusing on pitch and reception. For acrobatics, hand-supported movements, body inversions, handstands and cartwheels were approached, as well as s space and doubles compositions.

Considering the global development of the students and in order to expand the possibilities of experiences and learnings beyond the regular school period, Beacon offers the Optional Activities for families who need or want their children to remain at school for a longer period of time.

Students who attend the full day program have the opportunity to participate in a program that broadens their possibilities of experiences and choices, tighten the bond with knowledge, exercise skills, and explore activities that will assist in their self-knowledge process.  Furthermore, the activities provide a great opportunity for socializing with children from other groups.
