Book Club – Beacon Antiracist Workgroup

We are pleased to invite the entire school community (parents/guardians, Middle and High School students, and the school staff) to participate in the first edition of our Book Club, an initiative conceived by the Beacon Antiracist Workgroup. The Club aims to promote racial literacy through the discussion of books and the sharing of ideas, opinions, and experiences.

We have chosen the book “Quando me descobri negra”, by Bianca Santana, read by the Year 8 students last year and by some staff members during the 2021 Retreat. Its discussion brings us closer to racial issues that we need to address and challenges us to improve our work with the Beacon Institute.

Amazon LINK for purchase and reading.

Club Date: October 25 – Wednesday

Time: 7 pm to 8:30 pm

Mediators: The author of the book, Bianca Santana, will be with us in this meeting!

How can you participate? By reading the book to join the discussion, or simply by attending to watch the mediation.

Take advantage of this valuable opportunity to engage in an action of great importance for both Beacon and society at large.
