Beacon School Holds the 6th Edition of Career Day with Inspiring Workshops and Panels

Last Friday, May 22, 2026, Beacon School hosted another edition of its traditional Career Day — the sixth since the event was created. Featuring the largest participation of alumni to date, the day included talks for school families, panel discussions, and, for the first time, hands-on workshops in partnership with Brazilian and international universities, including the University of Chicago.

A Day That Began with Reflection

At 7:30 a.m., the auditorium welcomed physician Durval Anibal Daniel Filho — a graduate of USP, specialist in Pediatric Intensive Care, former academic coordinator at Albert Einstein, and a Beacon grandparent — for the opening keynote on resilience and maturity. His talk set the tone for the event: going beyond career choices and emphasizing personal development as an essential part of the journey.

Following the keynote, four Beacon alumni — Nicolas Davenport, admitted to USC and currently studying at Northeastern University; Laura Scalizi, admitted to several universities including Purdue University, one of the world’s leading institutions for Mechanical Engineering; Yasmin Marreiros, a full scholarship student at Mauá; and Benjamin Moreira, currently studying at Poli USP — shared the most important skills they developed during their years at school in an interactive panel discussion.

A Morning of Choices and Discoveries

From 11:05 a.m. to 1:20 p.m., students explored seven simultaneous career tracks, each featuring professionals from different fields. Topics ranged from Business, Law, and International Relations to Medicine, Architecture, Economics, and the Arts. Speakers included executives from companies such as Coca-Cola, Google, BTG Pactual, J.P. Morgan, and Vestas, as well as professors, researchers, and lawyers from renowned firms such as Pinheiro Neto and Baker McKenzie.

The diversity of experiences was intentional: the goal was to expose students to a wide range of career paths, helping them compare possibilities and make more informed decisions about their futures.

Hands-On Learning in the Afternoon

The major innovation of this year’s edition was the introduction of afternoon workshops, held from 2:10 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. Students could choose from sessions such as Business Games, a legal case-study activity using the Harvard method titled “How Much Is a Life Worth?”, as well as workshops in Medicine, Gastronomy, Entrepreneurship, Engineering, and Careers in the Arts with MASP. There was also a special session led by the University of Chicago on applications to highly selective universities.

For IB students, an additional session focused on balancing the IBDP with Brazilian university entrance exams, led by a former Beacon student admitted to Unicamp, Federal University of ABC, and other universities.

More Than a Career Fair

According to the event organizers, Career Day goes beyond simply presenting professions. Its purpose is to create a genuine space for dialogue between students and professionals, where real questions meet real answers. The presence of many Beacon alumni among the speakers — some still in university — reinforced this sense of connection and made the stories even more relatable for students preparing to make their own choices.

The 2026 edition further established Career Day as one of the most important events on Beacon School’s academic calendar — while also raising expectations for what is still to come.
