9th-grade (Y9) students Beatriz G., Helena S., Livia L., Lorena C., and Luiza D. won the international film competition of Full Sail University (USA), the Creativity Marathon, in the category of the best project from Brazil. The project consisted of an inspiring video about reforestation and environmental impact seen from a national perspective, which was entirely created by them, including the script, filming, and editing.
Deforestation was the main theme addressed by the group. With a fun and dynamic video, they developed an intervention proposal for the problem of global dimension. Guided by biological fundamentals, the idea was to promote the growth of the forest in an organic way, feeding birds with fruits that allow their feces to act as fertilizers containing seeds. In total, the objectives of climate action, life on land, and sustainable cities and communities were the pillars of the solution.
Creativity Marathon is an opportunity for high school students from all over the world to come together to try to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges through an audiovisual competition. With the help of some film production classes from Full Sail University, teams of three to five students, accompanied by an adult sponsor, had until March 25 to produce a three-minute video showing a clear and creative solution to one or more of the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals. Full Sail University offers on-campus and online degree programs designed for the entertainment media and emerging technologies areas. The Full Sail approach is centered on real industry experience and the creative solution of concrete problems.
