Beacon Campus hosted the “13th Inclusive Schools Network Meeting”, an event that brings together professionals from different areas to think about projects of inclusive education in formal, non-formal, and informal educational spaces. This project aims to establish a space to exchange ideias, materials, concerns, and studies, thus contributing to the strengthening of this educational model.
Through roundtable discussions, conversations, and presentations, these meetings aim to create a space for dialogues and exchange about education for diversity. In regards to its format, the last event had a presentation in subgroups, culminating in a general discussion. The objective of the 13th meeting was to present projects of inclusive schools and daily practices involving the topic. Four educational institutions, with different approaches, shared their experiences: Santa Cruz, Politeia, Projeto Vida e Colégio Viver.
Educators presented experiences and had group discussions by subthemes, such as curricular flexibility x curricular adaptation, family-school relationship, aggressiveness, concerns about medical diagnosis at school, among others. Furthermore, case studies, such as situations in which teachers find interesting resolutions for challenges, and those that brought deadlocks and concerns.
The project seeks to respect individuality by embracing differences and pursuing the potentialities of each student. The concept of the meetings is not to bring neither concrete answers nor models. Each school has its own history and the construction of different projects. Thus, each day brings new concerns and challenges. Considering this scenario, educators express a desire to dialogue, broaden their vision and exchange with peers experiencing the same issues.
