In May, 18 Beacon School students participated in a volunteer program at public schools in riverside communities in the Lençóis Maranhenses region of Maranhão, Brazil. In partnership with the Instituto Brasil Solidário (IBS), students led workshops in art, reading, music, theater, and other educational activities with children and young people from Barreirinhas and Santo Amaro.
Beyond the educational activities, the experience provided a meaningful cultural and social exchange, fostering empathy, citizenship, and student leadership. The initiative is part of IBS’s long-standing commitment to supporting public education and strengthening local communities across Brazil.
