2nd Battle of Rhymes raises food for the Laramara Institution

Students in the 6th grade (Y6) held their 2nd Battle of Rhymes. Part of the “Childhood” project, the event involved the Portuguese Language and Music subjects. This was an opportunity for our students to show their artistic talent by tackling the theme of “Violation of children’s rights”.

As the Battle involved the whole school community, we held a food collection campaign for the Laramara Institution, which cares for children with visual impairments (low vision or blindness), offering support to needy families who are unable to afford treatment for their children. In addition, we advise educational institutions to support visually impaired students, donating Braille machines and providing all the necessary infrastructure for dignified and humane treatment for children, young people and adults who need specialized care.

The integration of social actions into the IB (International Baccalaureate) school curriculum is intrinsically related to the skills, actions, and approaches committed to learning. By involving students in practical social projects, we foster specific skills, such as research skills, to understand community needs; critical thinking, to find effective solutions; communication skills, to collaborate with others and present ideas clearly; and social skills, to work in teams and build meaningful relationships.

In addition, social actions allow students to apply knowledge acquisition in a real-world context, solidifying their understanding and promoting self-management skills with social responsibility and global awareness
