Beacon is the venue for a lecture and fair of foreign universities

Beacon had the pleasure of once again receiving a visit from universities from abroad. This time, New York University (NYU) sent a representative who introduced the institution and answered questions from students and their families. Besides this lecture, the High School building hosted a university fair, in which Fordham University, Loyola University Maryland, SCAD – The University for Creative Careers, University at Albany State University of New York, Butler University, and University of Pittsburgh participated.

With the IB curriculum and the first high school class graduating in 2023, Beacon is becoming increasingly present on the radar of foreign universities. Besides Career Day and U-Day, the educational team has been promoting events that contribute to the students’ choice of course and institution of higher education. A fundamental part of the selection process is the degree of interest shown, and the relationship students build with the university during this transition from High School to the next phase of the school journey. 

The work done in University and Career Counseling is even the bridge between our students and their chosen universities. These lectures and fairs are good opportunities for them to get to know the institutions better and build up a greater repertoire to decide which one to enter. Given Beacon’s demonstration of a positive projection, the expectation is that in the coming years the presence of representatives will be even greater.
