International Day celebrates the international mindset in the community and after two years the party is back to face-to-face. This year, the students from Early Childhood Education and Elementary School represented countries related to the Units of Inquiry. With the help of their families, the classrooms were transformed into a corner of each place in the world. The Middle School and High School exhibits were the responsibility of the students.
With the event passport in hand, the students and their families traveled through the nations and regions of Brazil through exhibits, workshops, installations, dances, music, games, and typical foods.
More than 20 countries were represented, such as Bolivia, Finland, Lebanon, Nigeria, and Nepal. The teachers conducted research and activities with the students, besides helping the families to welcome the visitors in the ambient rooms.
Families play an important role in the event; besides being responsible for setting up the decoration and workshops, they also share the typical foods of each place. Students, on the other hand, can explore their roots and get to know the diversity of each nation.
The tour of the classrooms includes activities characteristic of each region, such as the installation of a climbing wall in Nepal and the simulation of a blizzard in Finland. In Nigeria, the students were visited by Otunba Adekunle Aderonmu, CEO of the African Cultural Center and Viceroy. The students were delighted with the stories and curiosities about the African country.
The auditorium also hosted attractions, among them: a traditional dance from Lebanon, a lecture about Mount Everest, and a Mexican musical presentation.
The event brought together flavors and stories from every corner of the world. It was a day of enriching experiences for students, families, teachers, and employees, who were able to exchange experiences about their backgrounds and meet many others. The students were able to exercise, before and during the party, the curious gaze worked on in the Units of Inquiry by appreciating diversity.
