U-day: First University Fair at School

By Lucas Sousa

In May, Beacon had its first university fair: the U-DAY. This was an international edition, with the participation of 15 universities from the United States and Canada.

Students from 9th grade to High School ( Y9 to Y11), their families, and educators participated in the event. Initially, the representatives of the universities gave a lecture about the choice of Higher Education institutions. In a second moment, the students were able to ask questions directly to the representatives about their programs, scholarships, and other relevant topics.

“I thought it was a wonderful experience. It cleared up a lot of my doubts, besides letting me know more options for colleges”, says one of the students. The event inspired the school community about the transition from High School to Higher Education, as well as about building the career path that comes with that choice.

Beacon will have its first high school graduating class in 2023. U-Day is part of a range of initiatives that Beacon offers to inform, guide, and assist students in making choices about their future careers.

Another edition of the university fair is scheduled for next semester, this time with representatives from Brazilian universities. Career Day brings professionals from different segments to talk about their experiences and profiles. In addition, our University Counselor, Lucas D’Nillo Sousa, provides individual assistance throughout the year to guide and accompany students and their families through the process of transition to Higher Education.
