Traditionally at Beacon, the G3 classes (3 years old) celebrate the “Grandparents’ Tea”. The event welcomes relatives with much affection and invites them to participate in enjoyable activities with the children.
Beacon Berlioz opens its doors to welcome the grandparents with an affectionate message from the coordination team. Then, the children invite them to a singing circle with a repertoire of songs in English and Portuguese learned during the classes, which involves the environment of good emotions.
In the piazza, the families had the opportunity to participate in a workshop to make bookmarks. Employing collages and drawings, the children and their grandparents decorated this lovely souvenir. To close this very special moment, the families shared a delicious snack prepared by the grandparents themselves, who brought along delicacies accompanied by an affectionate memory.
The Grandparents’ Tea celebrates the meeting of generations in a get-together marked by affection and moments of meaningful coexistence. As part of the “We Belong” Investigation Unit, the children learn about the main groups they belong to school, and family. In addition, they investigate who the community members are, their roles, and how they relate within a group.
During two months, the classes participate in activities that help them recognize their family configuration and that of their classmates. The work developed aims to put cooperation and sociability in evidence, without leaving aside each one’s personal characteristics.
