Staff members and educators training on the Reopening Plan

After presenting the Reopening Plan, prepared in partnership with health professionals to the Beacon Community, the Operational, Administrative, and Pedagogical areas started the training sessions for the resumption of on-site classes, which still has no confirmed date.

We are aware that no single measure is possible to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, and, therefore, we have outlined a plan that contemplates a combination of diversified measures because we believe it is the safest way to reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission in the school environment.

For each training block, we selected 25 staff members, who will be responsible for replicating the knowledge to their co-workers. The protocols strictly follow the guidelines provided by professionals from Hospital Albert Einstein. The training sessions were divided according to the following themes: Hygiene and Waste and Hygiene of Toys, Physical Barriers and Access Pattern, Common Areas, Buses and Vans, Elevator, Temperature Location, use of PPE, PPE x Environment, Use of Masks, Hand Hygiene, Social Distancing, Food, Suspect of COVID-19 and Monitoring Center, Suspect of COVID-19 during Entrance Time, and Segmentation of Students and Staff Members.

Staff members went through pre-tests and exams after the training, ensuring the understanding of the content to comply with the protocols.

The Pedagogical Team has also been studying about the ethical coexistence both within the work environment as well as outside it, and had the theme “Welcoming” as the main focus of training last month. Thinking about the socioemotional well-being of our students on their return, the educators are reflection on the following themes: diagnostic evaluation to create an empathetic listening space; acceptance of collective and individual feelings and needs; rules of coexistence – creation of a dialogic space; reflection on the rules of coexistence during this new moment and valorization of knowledge – creation of a cooperative space; and the Permanent Welcoming Committee – creation of a group that welcomes individual needs and makes the necessary referrals.

Students, teachers, and staff members have the right to count on physical and emotional safety in the school environment, and they can expect  a high level of concern and rigor from the school with the protocols that govern health and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic. Every effort will be made to avoid contamination of environments and we are committed to improving our protocols whenever necessary.
