Beacon Talks provided an enriching conversation about “Ethical coexistence in times of social distancing”, a theme that impacts the daily lives of children and teenagers. The speaker invited to the Live was the educator Adriana Ramos, from Convivere Mais, who talked with our principal, Vera Giusti, in Beacon’s Instagram (@beacon.school).
Adriana brought some important reflections on the differences in education and in the debate on ethics for different age groups; the talk addressed on how to adapt the language to the toddlers; the strength of good examples, the importance of establishing a routine; how to instigate children to reflect on what is right and wrong, besides the importance of ethical coexistence in family environments and collective environments, such as the school.
Parents of teenagers also participated in the talk. Topics such as privacy, the right of the other, supervision and individuality were discussed, always reinforcing the idea of empathy and coexistence based on respect. Coexistence in times of social distancing was also highlighted, addressing particularities of this stage of life. The audience was participative and asked questions, always addressing the specialist tips with their own experiences with their children on the subject.
