First Arraial at Campus Honors the Northeast Region

This year, songs and dances at the Beacon Arraial honored the Northeast region, a mixture of the interaction between Portuguese, African and Aborigine cultures. A region with a culture embedded with knowledge, custom, art, belief, religious worship, popular literature and dances.

“Festa Junina” is one of the most important celebrations not only in the Northeast region, but also throughout the country. A meaningful party, bringing elements of every region, together with the rhythms of the Northeast, considered an important birthplace of the most traditional Brazilian music styles.

The “Arraial” happened with the cooperation of the entire Beacon Community, including families, students and employees. As a cooperative party since its first edition, we are proud to count on everyone’s engagement in this endeavor.

Games were led by volunteers. They took part in the collaborative spirit and organized themselves, together with family members and other parents, to help in the activities. Children loved to see their parents involved and working! The Games Committee organized activities for all ages. Mechanical bull, court games, “argola no cone” and fishing were the most popular games of the party. Elementary and Middle School students participated, with great enthusiasm, of the “Correio Elegante” and “Prisão”.

We also had volunteers in other Committees, such as decoration, food and beverages, gifts and social responsibility. Each one with an important role to transform this event into a solidarity festivity, with excellence and collaborative work. The smile of the children, the beautiful speech of teachers, and the joy of the staff brought a feeling of mission accomplished.

Our Arraial is free of charge. Therefore, volunteers, sponsors and partners were vital to make this a memorable and breathtaking Arraial debut for the Campus.
