The year 2020 started with three intense training days aimed at the general knowledge of the school and some particularities of each segment.
We talked about Beacon School’s philosophy as a whole and the functioning of several areas such as communication, library, infirmary, technology, inclusion, and Optional Activities and doing an initial training on the PYP (Primary Years Programme).
We had moments of integration with the new hires and many team meetings to plan the events, tours, and objectives of the grade levels. And, thinking about the well-being of our students, all were trained and certified by the Lei Lucas (first aid).
The first week ended with the IB training for Early Childhood Education and Elementary School teachers and a specific one for junior teachers. The topics covered were “Play-based Learning,” “Evidencing Learning,” and “Agency in Practice,” respectively.
Elementary school teachers had specific training by area of knowledge and Google Classroom, a platform for interaction and monitoring of students.
The second week was dedicated to tidying up spaces, planning the first weeks, and meeting with English and Portuguese-speaking advisors.
We are sure that the year 2020 will be full of exchanges, new knowledge acquisition, great affection, and outstanding achievements!
