The Personal Inquiry Club is an opportunity for students who are interested in getting deeper their knowledge of a topic or a personal passion. In this club, each child can plan, conduct and evaluate their own investigation process, with the support of a mentor teacher.
The project started in the first semester, with the 1st and 5th year classes (Y1 and Y5), in online format. Due to the success of the experience, the club was expanded to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year classes (Y2, Y3 and Y4), who will meet weekly at school. In these meetings, students will share their learning experiences and exchange feedback with other students who are also doing their individual projects. As they find answers to their questions and come to conclusions, they will plan how to share their findings with the school community.
Y1 students will keep investigating what they had already started in the first semester. To the Y2, Y3 and Y4 students, the mentor presented a proposal and the criteria for participation. To be selected, students must: fulfill all of their tasks and responsibilities related to regular classes; show interest in extra challenges; have an investigative and curious profile; demonstrate independence and responsibility to the learning processes; demonstrate commitment to the inquiry process, discussions and presentations in English.
Students from Y2, Y3 and Y4 who meet these criteria and who are interested and willing to participate in the club, can apply through a list in each room. Afterwards, teachers select around six students who are ready for extra challenges.
