Students from the 7th grade go on a study trip to Argentina

The 7th-grade (Y7) students went on their first international trip with Beacon School. In 12 days, they visited Rosario and Buenos Aires to study the Spanish language and the Argentinian culture. The city of Rosario was chosen due to its cultural richness, and the capital Buenos Aires could not be forgotten in this experience as well.

The students attended Spanish classes at Colegio Parque España, where they  interacted with natives of Argentina. In addition to their studies, they played a traditional soccer match – Brazil x Argentina. At the end of the game, both teams mixed, making the exchange experience even funner.

During their stay in Rosario, the group visited the City Hall, the Aquarium, the Flag Monument, and the “Mundo Aparte” (a park dedicated exclusively to the protection and recovery of wild animals). They also watched the Vanguart show, inspired by the Paraná River and produced by the directors of “Cirque du Soleil”. The students also   visited the largest floating library in the world, the Logos Hope ship.

The educational boat ride along the Paraná River was a must. The local guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and involved students along a course that took them to an island. There, they observed the inhabitants’ houses and cement boats, abandoned since World War II, and they also enjoyed the afternoon with a picnic by the river.

The visit to Buenos Aires was also filled with learning opportunities and fun. The students visited the Casa Rosada, one of the most important constructions in Buenos Aires and in Argentina too. They also went to the Japanese Garden, a park with typical Japanese architectures, with lakes and waterfalls, as well as various species of plants and flowers. You can eat Japanese food in a traditional tea house and get to know more about Japan at the library there.

The tour also included “La Boca”, where the students visited the “Caminito” and the stadium of the Boca Juniors soccer team. They went on a tour to learn about the team’s history. They also spent some hours at the El Ateneo library, considered the 4th most beautiful library in the world.

All this international experience, in addition to being fun, promoted an extraordinary exchange of language and culture! The students came back even more integrated and with plenty of new stories to tell.
