During Spanish classes, 7th graders (Y7) got to know the work of Argentine artist Antonio Berni, born in Rosario.
The idea was for students to get to know Berni’s works, importance, and techniques to connect with Brazilian artists. They also had a virtual meeting with another visual artist, Maite Acosta, who showed them, in addition to the characteristics of Antonio Berni’s works, other professionals in the city. The students asked Maite questions and received valuable tips on how to make a self-portrait.
During synchronous classes, the objective has been to develop orality, providing moments for students not to lose fluency and the opportunity to express themselves in the Spanish language. The interviews had a fundamental role during remote learning, placing the student in a real situation, interacting, exchanging, and enriching their knowledge.
The 5th graders (Y5) also had the opportunity to make a cultural exchange while talking with Colombian students virtually. The students held previous research on Hispanic countries, especially Colombia. During the online meeting, one of our students gave a brief presentation on a few characteristics he had learned about Colombia (geography, population, traditional dishes, currency, among others), which resulted in an even richer exchange between both schools. Colombian students added further information about the country, and Brazilian students were able to raise hypotheses and answer questions.
