The closure of Early Childhood Education is an important mark in children’s lives. As part of the G6 End of Cycle Celebration (at age 6), families were invited to participate in activities related to the work developed throughout the year. And to top it off, the students performed a deeply moving musical presentation.
Parents could learn a little about the Units of Inquiry their children investigated about, and were amazed by their knowledge and autonomy. In the Unit of Inquiry “Great Inventions!”, inspired by the story “A Fantástica Máquina de Bichos”, by Ruth Rocha, G6 children decided to create a machine into which they could go to then come out merged with an animal. For this entertaining game, they planned how this machine would be and how this transformation could happen. Thus, the students participated in every step of the creative process of building the machine, from choosing the recycled materials they wanted to use to the production of the accessories that would represent the animals they had chosen. It was a great collective project in which the children could share knowledge and learn from their peers. And during the event, it was the parents’ turn to have fun!
In the Unit of Inquiry “Art is Everywhere!”, children were able to create a beautiful work of art as they experienced a moment of dance and painting inspired by the Italian school Segni Mossi. Family members had the opportunity to experience this milestone with their children as well.
During the Unit of Inquiry “African Influences”, G6 learned how important the Baobá tree is for the African people, and they listened to several tales about African culture beliefs. Here, parents found records made by the children themselves and had the opportunity to listen to them telling their favourite stories. After exploring colors, patterns, and different textures in Art classes, G6 children, along with their parents, made an artistic intervention with the construction of a tree.
In the Unit “Come Rain, Come Shine”, the children conducted scientific experiments on the climate and seasons around the world, and parents learned from their discoveries.
Besides the Units of Inquiry, the children decided to share some of the activities carried out in their everyday lives regarding areas of knowledge, and acted as guides for their family members.
After the activities, parents were invited to go to the auditorium for the Grand Finale. In a breathtaking performance, the children sang and delighted everyone!
