Beacon School welcomed back its faculty members and celebrated the beginning of the second semester with a workshop organized by the art educator and music therapist, André Lindenbergh. He coordinated an activity to demonstrate how to increase focus and attention by using sounds and music as verbal languages.
As part of one of his investigation projects, André creates instruments out of recyclable materials, aiming at creating various timbres. That was exactly what teachers were able to experience, by investigating different sounds produced by the same kind of material.
An improvised, yet orderly symphony, with unusual instruments, came to life, celebrating the beginning of the new semester full of joy.
André finished the seminar by presenting a tale. The moral was: when we cannot hit the right target with our actions, simply change the target. Everything we do affects someone somehow, and such impact must be taken into consideration. This is exactly the reflection that will be brought to the classroom and used with our students.
