Caroline Blaj, G3 (3 years old) teacher, launched her first children’s book, “Pirata o Vira-lata.” Inspired by her dog, the story is about the life of a puppy born on the street and who lived in a box with his family. But one day, his mother left and did not return to the box. So Pirate, the smartest of the mutts, went on a mission to find her.
The idea of writing this story came to her when her children asked her about where the puppy had been found and how people who rescue animals at risk worked. Thus, Caroline signed a partnership with the “Amigos de São Francisco” NGO founded to save abandoned animals, which already collects 2,000 happy story endings! All proceeds from the book sale will be donated to support the NGO and help protect, rehabilitate and search for a new home for the pets that need it.
The book is also part of the “Girls for a Cause” project, bringing together women from different countries to contribute to social causes. Based on the premise that together they can generate surprising changes when love and dedication are involved, 12 volunteers made the book illustrations based on the author’s description. Poland, Italy, United States, Israel, and Germany are some of the countries of origin of the illustrators that gave life to the little Pirate and enriched the illustrations with their experience, culture, and background.
