Beacon presents High School on webinar

Beacon invited its entire community and the general public for a special presentation of High School, aiming at showing the educational guidelines that will be followed and the structural model of this new cycle at the school.

The principals Vera Nicol Giusti and Audrey Peverelli explained the IB Diploma Program stages and how it will be integrated into the Brazilian school curriculum, highlighting the benefits in learning, the student’s commitment and development regarding social issues.

The presentation was also attended by Portuguese and English Language consultants, Eloisa Galesso and Terry Aranda, respectively, BNCC consultant Lilio Alonso, CEO of Daqui Pra Fora international studies consultancy Felipe Fonseca, and the newest members of Beacon’s pedagogical team, the High School coordinator Karine Vairo. The guests participated in an exchange of experiences and content on the construction of the program, the faculty team preparation and the transformation of students.

Director Luciana Leite presented ideas shared by the students themselves during meetings that had been held previously, in which they brought up how the daily life at school could be. Subjects were discussed from how the lunch logistics could be to the possibility of creating a place where they could meet during their free time. The 9th graders (Y9) presented their proposals to the directors, demonstrating in practice the IB student agency.

To conclude the webinar, director Maria Eduarda Sawaya showed, at first hand, the plan for the High School complex. The space will be a vertical project, but with the same concept that is already used at Beacon, thinking of welcoming and the integration to the pedagogical project. We believe that the school space is the third educator and we prioritize the exchange of relationships among students, teachers and the space itself.
