Y4 students carry out a “virtual exchange” with Colombia

The 4th grade (Y4) Spanish teacher started working on an enriching project: a virtual exchange with students in Colombia. The initiative began through the exchange of letters with 2nd grade students from Colegio Gimnasio Moderno, in Bogotá. Their teacher even said that many of them were moved while writing to our Brazilian students! Below you will find one of the letters.

From: Simón

A mí me gusta dibujar.

The idea came up with the aim of our students to have a first contact with the Spanish language in dialogues with children of a similar age group. That way, they could talk a bit about what they are learning, make a personal presentation, tell about their school and personal preferences.

Colombian students are working on a book that addresses the differences, and this has also been a relevant topic, as it is an opportunity for Beacon students to learn about another culture.

In addition to letters and emails, the exchange will also include some virtual meetings. The first one has already happened, and the experience was excellent! Beacon students from Y4 are doing their best to use the Spanish language and asked many interesting questions.
