Beacon students participate in a UN simulation

This weekend, high school students from Beacon represented the school at a Model United Nations (MUN) conference at Avenues School.

Designed specifically to engage young people in debates on global issues, a MUN provides students with the opportunity to play the role of delegates from different UN member countries, distributed across committees such as the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, among others. During the simulation, delegates must debate and seek solutions to international issues of relevance, such as human rights, climate change, global security, international trade, and sustainable development.

Beacon students Pedro T. and Thiago S. were awarded the best official position paper in their committee. Congratulations to the students for their participation and dedication over these three days!
