Career Day and U-Day: representatives from the job market and Brazilian universities visit the Campus

Following the line of the first edition, Career Day brought together professionals and university students to talk to 9th-grade (Y9) and High School (Y10 and Y11) students about their careers and perspectives in their respective fields. The purpose was to offer, through examples of success, tools to help students choose their future careers. 

Throughout the event, several lectures took place by important names in the job market and even by students who also hold the IB certificate. In the morning, the opening lecture was given by Guilherme Rangel, futurist, researcher, advisor, startupper, agent provocateur, and SciFi Experience Designer. After talking about the possibilities of future careers, two students shared their experiences with the Diploma Programme (DP) and its impact on their academic and professional lives.

Following the event schedule, the students were able to choose the workshops of their interest to participate in the next sessions. They were divided into five tracks, each following a specific career path. The speakers’ areas of expertise ranged from those related to the arts and creativity to more traditional ones. Seeking to contemplate current demands, representatives from growing fields, such as the investment and technology industries, were also invited. 

Before the second part of the event, the U-Day, the students had the opportunity to have lunch with the speakers and talked about their doubts and curiosities in an informal environment. Finally, representatives from Brazilian colleges gathered in the auditorium to give the students an overview of the institutions, the courses provided, and exchange possibilities.
