We invited G4 classes (4 years old) to try several supplies to produce two-dimensional drawings on different holders. After observing the result, the Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture teacher noticed the presence of many geometric shapes. It also drew the teacher’s attention that, during the process, children entered the world of imagination and told stories while drawing. The students’ works were rich in overlapping lines; consequently, an interesting idea came up: “Can we draw using different materials other than paper? What connections can we make while drawing”?
The following proposal was to invite the students to put round stickers on several walls of the studio. Once this was done, the students had to connect the stickers.
The next step was to show that the drawings can also be three-dimensional. Teachers offered students Cotton strings of different colors to “draw” in space. Apart from developing creativity and motor skills, the activity stimulated their imagination. The result was an installation that allowed them to create stories and play make-believe games.
