We started the 2021 academic year with the training of the entire teaching staff in a hybrid model. Face-to-face meetings with few educators and lots of distance, synchronous training, and asynchronous moments.
We had meetings with all advisors from the Portuguese, English, mathematics, and science areas to adjust learning expectations for 2021, based on the assessments carried out in 2020 and many group discussions on curricular planning and organization.
Another point of interest was hybrid teaching. In addition to the training for the various platforms we use, we had lectures and studies on the topic, reflecting on what needs to be improved, which strategies worked, and new action items.
We also discussed the safety resumption of classes and could revisit health and safety protocols that impact students’ daily lives.
We ended the two-week training with a lecture by clown Marcio Ballas, whose theme was “Improviso no Imprevisto,” and how adaptable and creative we need to adapt to all the daily changes in our lives. It was a moment of relaxation and learning, bringing together the entire school, including the pedagogical and administrative teams, in the virtual space.
The teams started the year feeling energized, happy to have students back, and prepared to teach face-to-face and online classes with excellence.
