This year, we had to reinvent ourselves, and that includes our end of year celebrations. On December 11th, the entire school opened a website page for each grade so that everyone could enjoy the work developed throughout the year. The “2020 End of Year” website featured videos, investigations, celebrations, and concrete evidence of how our students experienced each Learner Profile.
“If 2020 was the most challenging year in our history, it was also a period marked by the resilience and unity of the entire Beacon Community, as well as several discoveries. It is still the year of our tenth anniversary. There is, therefore, a lot to celebrate.
In Visual Arts, we have our first Beacon Visual Arts Show, an exhibition of spontaneous participation of students’ works created throughout the year.
In Music, we present a summarized compilation of the works sent by students in 2020.
For the International Day, we chose works from several series that addressed International Mindedness* this year,” says Hermelino Neder, Beacon’s music teacher.
* “International-mindedness is a view of the world in which people see themselves connected to the global community and assume a sense of responsibility to its members. It is an awareness of the inter-relatedness of all nations and peoples, and a recognition of the complexity of these relationships.” (the IB Community Blog)
