Students from the 5th grade (Y5) to the 9th grade (Y9) participated for the third time in the Math Kangaroo Competition, considered the largest Mathematics competition globally, with around 6 million participants per year in more than 80 countries. This year, given the current global context, the event organizers made it available in the online model.
Among its main objectives, we can highlight the development of mathematical knowledge, the encouragement to solve problems, and the challenges of mathematics and logic, integrating the content of mathematics with geometry.
In the week before the test, teachers accessed the platform and trained students during classes with exercises applied in previous years. There was a great deal of involvement of the students to commit themselves both in the preparation stage and the execution itself. We had a 99% presence on the evaluation day.
“There is an excellent concept that we pass on to them that it is not just the award. The event organizers themselves say that it is essential for students to have contact with another mathematics and feel the pleasure of thinking mathematically. ”, Says Middle School coordinator Américo dos Santos.
