Carnival is one of the most important popular manifestations of Brazilian culture. For this reason, at Beacon School, we value and use this moment as an opportunity to offer music repertoire, costumes, and different types of celebration.
We invited Elementary School children to research and read images related to Carnival, play make-believe games using accessories, dance and listen to different rhythms such as “marchinhas,” “frevo,” and “Maracatu.”
To prepare our school for the Carnival, students used art classes to do so. The children produced and decorated masks, banners, and posters and distributed them throughout the space.
At Campus, we invited students to wear costumes, and each classroom had its celebration. They heard stories about Carnival, organized a parade, danced, threw confetti, and sang traditional “marchinha” songs.
Carnival is a time for partying, enjoyment and learning!
