MARIA EDUARDA QUEIROZ DE MORAES SAWAYA
FOUNDING DIRECTOR
Maria Eduarda has a degree in Production Engineering from the University of São Paulo School of Engineering (Politécnica) and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. She was a consultant for the preschool of Escola Viva in São Paulo and a Director of Colégio Pentágono. She also worked for Taaleem, a group of international schools in Dubai, participated in a study program of preschools in Reggio Emilia, Italy and visited international schools in Singapore and in the United States.
LUCIANA NOGUEIRA DE ALMEIDA LEITE
FOUNDING DIRECTOR
Luciana has a degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and took an extension course in Finance at Harvard University. She has an MBA in Social Responsibility from the University of São Paulo. She worked on e-learning projects at MBG, an organization for distance education, and was the Administrative and Financial Director at Colégio Pentágono, and during that time visited a number of schools in Scotland, Ireland, United States, and Finland.
VERA PATRÍCIA SYLVIA NICOL GIUSTI
Founding Director and Principal
Vera has degrees in Education, Psychology, Languages, Social Sciences and Chemistry. Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching and Post-Masters in Educational Leadership, both from Michigan State University. Vera was a teacher, guidance counselor and director at the Graded School, in São Paulo, for over 20 years. She was also a teacher at Colégio Santa Cruz, where for 8 years she was the high school English coordinator, and worked at Chapel and St. Paul’s School, in São Paulo. She was responsible for implementing the curriculum for elementary education at Escola Beit Yaacov, in São Paulo, where she also implemented the International Baccalaureate Organization’s “Primary Years Program”.

BRUNA MELO
ECE COORDINATOR - EARLY YEARS
Bruna has a degree in Language Arts - Portuguese/English and in Education. She also attended specialization courses on Bilingualism at PUC. She graduated in Psychopedagogy from the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie. She holds a degree in Teaching for Understanding from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She worked as a researcher at the Center of Cognitive and Social Neuroscience at the Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie. Bruna has 15 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. She has an IELTS certification in English Proficiency and has intermediate knowledge of French, through a course attended at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). She has been a faculty member at Beacon since 2013.
ELIZABETH CONTE
ECE COORDINATOR G2 TO G6
Elizabeth has a degree in Language Arts and Education and studies in Educational Leadership and International Teaching of Framingham College; she is also a certified teacher by the American Montessori Society. Betty worked at Graded School as pre-school teacher, she was the English Area Coordinator at Escola Beit Yaacov, and has been a Coordinator at Beacon since 2011.
FERNANDA FREITAS
ECE COORDINATOR - EARLY YEARS
Fernanda Freitas holds a degree in Education from Instituto Superior de Educação Vera Cruz and a Language Arts degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo - PUC-São Paulo. She was an exchange student in Mississippi, the US, and has been working in bilingual schools since 1998. She took part in the course “Teaching for Understanding: A Focus on Student Understanding”, from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2015. She is fluent in English. She is attending graduate studies in Early Childhood ate Instituto Singularidades. Recently has visited schools in Peru and Argentina to research about different learning approaches.
PAOLA ALBUQUERQUE COSTA
ECE COORDINATOR G5 & G6
Paola has a degree in Psychology from PUC-SP and in Education from Universidade Paulista - UNIP. She has a Teaching Certificate In Montessori Training from NAMC- North American Montessori Center. Her Middle and High Schools years were done in international institutions in Venezuela, United States and Brazil. She has been working at the Elementary School level and preschool since 2003. She worked at Escola Beit Yaacov and has been working at Beacon since 2011.

AMÉRICO DOS SANTOS
MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Américo holds a degree in History and Education from PUC, a graduate degree in Culture and Communication Media by the Faculty of Social Sciences of PUC, and member of the research group in the Education Area, coordinated by Cleide Terzi, since 2006. He was a Middle and High School History Teacher, an Advisor in the Human Sciences and Education areas in Elementary, Middle and High School. At the Pentágono School, he was Middle School Pedagogical Coordinator, Coordinator of the PEA-UNESCO Program, and General Coordinator for 25 years.
FERNANDA SAWAYA OLIVEIRA
ELEMENTARY PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Fernanda has degrees in Social Sciences from the Catholic University of São Paulo and Education from Mackenzie University -SP. She worked as an English teacher at Cultura Inglesa and Santa Maria school. Later she was a Pedagogical Coordinator of English and Spanish at Cellep for many years. One of her responsibilities was to help implement and organize Cellep branches in regular schools.
SILVANA GILI
ELEMENTARY PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Silvana Gili holds a BA in Portuguese and English Languages and an MA in International Education (Framingham State University). Besides completing specialization courses in Bilingualism (PUC-SP) and Reading and Children's Literature (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), Silvana is presently completing her PhD in Literature (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina). She has over twenty years of experience in international school settings, such as Graded School (São Paulo) and the American Schools of Brasília (Brazil) and Madrid (Spain).
TATIANA HORNO NETTO
ELEMENTARY PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Tatiana holds a degree in Education at PUC and a graduate degree in Psychopedagogy. Tatiana was a teacher, pedagogical coordinator and guidance counselor in Early Childhood Education and in the Elementary Program at Integration School (Bilingual Education) for 10 years, and has been a pedagogical coordinator and guidance counselor in Elementary School at Colégio Renascença.

PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAM (PYP- IB) COORDINATOR
Sonia has a degree in Education and has invaluable experience with the implementation of the PYP, for she was the PYP Coordinator at Beit Yacoov. She worked with Early Childhood Education at Graded School and in several other schools. Sonia is fluent in English, Portuguese and Italian.

LIBRARY COORDINATOR
Sonia has a degree in Library Science from Fundação Escola de Sociologia e Política de São Paulo and specialization degree in Psicopedagogy applied to Library Science from Faculdade de Educação e Ciências Pinheirense. Specialist in school libraries, has worked in Colégio Santo Américo, Graded School, Stance Dual and Escola Beit Yaacov.
ZILDA KESSEL
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR
Zilda Kessel holds a PhD in Education (New Technologies in Education). She earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from the Catholic University of São Paulo - PUC-SP and in Arts from the Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado - FAAP. She obtained her Master's in Information Science and Documentation (University of São Paulo - USP).

OPTIONAL PROGRAMS COORDINATOR
Tina has a degree in Physical Education from the University of São Paulo and a specialization degree in Social Responsibility by FIA/USP. She attended an extension course in Sustainability at Harvard University and taught Physical Education at Colégio Santa Cruz and at St. Paul’s School. She worked as a consultant for social projects through sports for non-profit organizations. Tina is also a Body & Movement consultant at Beacon.
REGINA MARIA FERRAZ ELERO IVAMOTO
PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE CONSULTANT - ECE & ELEMENTARY
She holds a master's degree in Semiotics and a bachelor's in Portuguese and French from USP. She was a teacher and integrated the Portuguese Language Team of CENP (Centro de Estudos e Normas Pedagógicas) from the Education Department of de state of São Paulo. She was also a pedagogical supervisor of the IQE (Instituto Qualidade no Ensino) and guided the USP Continued Education Program.
KATIA SMOLE
MATH CONSULTANT
Kátia holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in Education, from the University of São Paulo, focused on teaching Science and Mathematics. As the coordinator of Mathema - an Institute of professional development and research - she was one of the authors of the Brazilian National Standards in Natural Science, Mathematics and Technologies. She is the author of several educational books.

PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE CONSULTANT - MIDDLE SCHOOL
Maria da Graça holds a bachelor’s degree in Language Arts and English, from PUC/SP. She specialized in Brazilian Literature and holds a master’s degree in Literary Theory and Communication and Semiotics from PUC. Currently, she is a Portuguese Language Arts consultant at other schools in Sao Paulo and in Maranhão.
MARISA SZPIGUEL
ARTS CONSULTANT
Marisa Szpigel holds a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from FAAP. Since 1989, she has been working as a teacher, coordinator and professional developer in Art in schools, NGOs and cultural institutions, such as Escola da Vila, Comunidade Educativa - CEDAC, the São Paulo Modern Art Museum– MAM, Instituto Moreira Salles – IMS, and the Tomie Ohtake Institute. Currently, Marisa works at Escola da Vila and at the Museu da Casa Brasileira – MCB.
PAULA CRISTIANE STRINA JULIASZ
GEOGRAPHY CONSULTANT
Paula holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography and a specialization in Research on Cartography. She earned a master’s degree in Geography at the São Paulo State University. Currently, Paula is a professor at the University of São Paulo (FEUSP). Paula has published books and articles on Geography, focusing mainly on school cartography and the teaching of Geography.
MARCOS NICOL GIUSTI
GEOGRAPHY CONSULTANT
Marcos holds a bachelor’s, and a master’s degree in Geography, from USP. He has worked as a cartographic geographer at Editora Abril Cultural (Revista Quatro Rodas) and has designed maps of Brazilian National Parks for the São Paulo State Environmental Department. In addition, he has experience working for the Institute of Geography and Cartography of the State of São Paulo. He has over 15 years of experience as a teacher of the Middle School and as a professor, at the university ilevel.

HISTORY CONSULTANT
Maria Cecilia holds a degree in History from PUC/SP and a master’s degree in Social History from University of São Paulo (USP). She teaches Methodology and History of Africa and Economic History in the History and Education Undergraduate Programs at FMU. She also teaches at ALEF (High School), Hebraica and Paraisópolis sites. She is a special area consultant of Beacon School’s Middle School.
MARIA TERESA DE LA TORRE ARANDA (TERRY)
ENGLISH LANGUAGE CONSULTANT
Terry holds an M.A. in TESL from the School for International Training, in Vermont, and a B.A. in Language Arts from USP. She has extensive experience as a teacher and teacher educator in different settings, both in ELT and bilingual education. Former pedagogical coordinator at Global Me Bilingual School, Terry also coordinated the Middle School English Program at Escola Beit Yaacov for five years. She currently teaches in the Bilingual Education graduate program at Instituto Singularidades.
HERMELINO NEDER
MUSIC CONSULTANT
Hermelino Neder has a Communication and Arts degree from USP and a doctor’s degree in Communication and Semiotics from PUC/SP. A conductor and composer, he studied orchestration in New York and won several prizes for movie sound tracks. He is also responsible for Music at Vera Cruz and at St. Nicholas Schools
VIVIANE MORAES ALVES
SCIENCE CONSULTANT
Viviane holds a B.Sc., a M.Sc., and a PhD degrees in Physics from USP. She has been teaching Physics, not only in the Brazilian curriculum but also in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). In addition, Viviane gives consultation and ongoing professional development for teachers of Science. Viviane is a co-author of the High School collection “Quanta”.

SPANISH CONSULTANT
Erica holds a teaching degree ("Profesora de Educación Preescolar”) from Argentina, her motherland, and another in Education in Brazil. Specialized in Teaching Methods of the Japanese Language, she has been working as a Spanish teacher in Brazil since 2000 and at Beacon School since 2015.
